The Sorry State of Male Leadership in the Church

I came across this article by R. C. Sproul, Jr. entitled “Off with the Skirt, On with the Pants” that is bound to make some people mad. It is, however, true. Every word.

I cannot help but think of my post from April 26 on why more men don’t come to church. I’m sure there is a connection, I just haven’t thought of it yet.

Thanks for this post and the link to that article. I agree with most of what RC Sproul Jr says in it. But I’m also troubled by the fact that in other articles he’s repeatedly referred to himself as a “junior high girl.” That’s a little weird, and not very manly either. Maybe you didn’t know it but RC Sproul Jr was defrocked last January.

  2. Thanks, Rita. I just came across the article and agreed with what it said and didn’t know about any other issues with Sproul, Jr. I am sorry to hear it, though. R. C. Sproul, through his radio program and books, gave me my first grounding in Reformation theology and its rich heritage. Somewhere on this blog is my review of his book The Soul’s Quest for God, which brought me out of a period of spiritual stagnation.
