Good News from Our First Outreach of the School Year

Praise the Lord for fifty children from the public school who are on our property as I write this, hearing the gospel, some of them for the first time. We even have a grandfather here because he wanted to see what was going on.

For those of you who don’t know about released-time class, here’s the skinny. Michigan law allows for one hour per week of religious education if the parent requests it, provided it is not on school grounds. We only take one hour a month, and sometimes have to fight to get that, as we did back on 2004. We have a children’s missionary, Jay Cooper, who works for RBM Ministries, who does our released-time class and our VBS. He also comes one Sunday a month during the school year to teach on Sunday.

The last few years have been difficult because of constant changes in the school district and we were expecting 10-12 as in years past and thought we might get 20 or 25 as the year progressed. Fifty was more than we had even hoped for. We already have two families coming regularly from our previous classes so pray with me that we will see more fruit from this group of kids. I’d also love to see this grandfather come to faith.
