Link: Evangelical Manifesto Ponders Politics

I have not read this “Evangelical Manifesto” so please don’t consider this an endorsement, but apparently I’m not the only person who thinks that “the word ‘evangelical’ has lost its religious meaning.” This article ‘Evangelical Manifesto’ Ponders Politics, is about a new document circulating that, as the name of the article implies, addresses this very issue.

My favorite line in this article is near the end: “…if high-profile evangelical leaders such as Dobson and Land don’t support the document, ‘it’s like throwing a pebble in the ocean’ and will carry no weight.” Because, of course, [sarcasm on] we all need James Dobson’s permission and blessing before we can do or say anything, don’t we?[sarcasm off] As far as Land goes, never heard of him.

One Response to Link: Evangelical Manifesto Ponders Politics

  1. Great PostI too think ‘evangelical’ has lost its religious meaning; it has become a broad term used by politicians and ‘talking heads’. Remember a few months ago when Dobson came out against Rudy and said he would never vote for him. Or was it McCain he wasn’t going to vote for. Anyway my not remembering shows how much weight he holds politically. Check out my blog at youngmissionalandreformed.blogspot.comThanks and God Bless
